Download jMetrik Version 3

Upgrading from Version 2.1
Version 3 is a significant revision to jMetrik. It includes major changes to the interface and underlying database. Some of the changes affect the way you run an analysis. DIF analysis and nonparametric curves now require you to create a score before running them. In addition, data requirements for IrtPlots, IRT linking and equating, and Rasch Analysis fixed values specification have changed in version 3. These methods now require a different format to the data file. Read about the data file requirements here.

The default location for jMetrik databases has changed in version 3 so that jMetrik can run on Windows machines without the hassle of User Access Control. Databases are now stored in C:\Users\<your user name>\jmetrik\database on Windows machines and the home folder on Macs. If you would like to use databases created with version 2 of jMetrik, you must copy them to this new location. Version 2 databases were stored in C:\Program Files\jmetrik\DefaultWorkspace on Windows Machines by default.

Getting Started
Read the quick-start guide to learn how to run an analysis with version 3. Even if you are familiar with version 2.1, please read this document. The workflow in version 3 is differnt in many ways.

System Requirements
jMetrik requires a minimum of 256 MB of available memory and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 6 update 43 or later. It runs on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux platforms that have the correct version of Java installed. You can shoose a Windows installer below that includes the JRE version 7 update 17. If you do not want to use this version of the JRE and you computer has JRE version 6 update 43 or later, you can download a Windows installer that does not include a JRE. The installer and archive file for MAC OSX does not include a JRE. Mac users must manually install a JRE if you computer does not meet the minimum requirements. See this information to download the latest version for a Mac if you do not have it currently installed.

Java Security
Java recently experienced a security vulnerability with their web browser plugin in version 7 update 11 of the JRE. That security issue was repaired in the versions of Java required by jMetrik. In addition, the security vulnerability pertained to the web browser plugin. jMetrik is a stand-alone Java application that does not use the web browser plugin. Apple disabled Java 7 update 11 on Macs due to a security issue. Other versions of Java work fine on a Mac.
